Calling all Heroes for C.A.R.E. Week 2018
Every year, all chapters and colonies around the nation partake in planning, executing, and hosting their own Cancer Awareness: a Real Effort! (C.A.R.E.) Week. Throughout this week, a series of events are held in order to draw awareness to, and raise funds towards a cancer related organization. To date, our organization has nationally raised almost $100,000 through events such as bake sales, Mr. C.A.R.E. Week pageant, various sports tournaments, etc. Our chapter alone has raised almost $1000 in find with our C.A.R.E. week last year. With each and every forthcoming year, we strive to outdo our previous efforts in order to create a more lasting impact for the community. All of this would not have been possible without the support of the members of our community on campus, including other organizations such as Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc., Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc., Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and countless others. Examples of organizations that have benefitted from our C.A.R.E. Week are Bringing Hope Home and My Hope’s Chest.
The Kick-off rally consisted of music and pie-ing a sister. This was a huge success with all sisters being involved throughout the day with various shifts and encouraging people walking by, friends, classmates, and even teachers to donate money to pie a sister. The Bake Sale was incorporated into our candlelight vigil, where we printed out flame cut-outs and had people decorate them. Greek members added their letters on the paper cut-outs. This was later used as a display during the C.A.R.E. Pageant. The volleyball tournament allowed other Greek organizations and even the volleyball intramural team from school to get involved! Our C.A.R.E. Pageant was a big success, having neophytes from organizations get involved and represent their organizations. Thus, their organizations showed big support and filled the seats up!
